Senator Joel Villanueva joined nearly a million Christian believers at the 40th anniversary celebration of Jesus Is Lord (JIL) Church Worldwide on Saturday at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.
In his speech, Villanueva called on the JIL people to remain faithful to God and be a blessing to others.
“We remind the JIL People of our strong faith in God and how blessed each one of us and the JIL ministry as a whole. Our faith is powerful because it activates Godʼs power and mercy—this is the reason why we are so blessed,” said Villanueva, chairman of Kristiyanong Kabataan para sa Bayan (KKB) Movement.
“Let’s not just stay in the four corners of the Church but transform our nation to become a blessed nation of the Lord,” Villanueva added.
This year's JIL anniversary celebration with the theme: “Grand Homecoming” gathered Church members from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao and followers from JIL Church spread in more than 60 countries across the globe.
Among those who graced the event were JIL founder Bro. Eddie Villanueva, Gary Valenciano, Sen. Sonny Angara, Sen. JV Ejercito, and Sen. Cynthia Villar.
The membership of JIL has boomed to more than 6 million since it began as a Bible study for 15 students at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in 1978.
